ABOUT FACULTY
Faculty of Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering (FKKSA) of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) was established since 2001 with the aim of training
and producing professional engineers in the said area. The faculty will embark on research and development activities particularly in the area of fine and specialty chemical and biotechnology-related processes to generate expertise that relevant to the needs of the industry. In light of this, it is hoped that the faculty will be the main supporter for the chemical and petrochemical industry particularly in the East Coast region as well as a reference centre for scaling up biotechnology-related processes which have the potential to be commercialized. It will also serve as a catalyst in the development of the East Coast Industrial Corridor through programs such as technology transfer, staff exchange, training, consultancy and other services relating to chemical and natural resources engineering.

ABOUT COURSE
Part-time Diploma of Chemical Engineering (Process Plant) is established due to request from industrial workers particularly from gas and petrochemical industry in east coast of peninsular Malaysia to enhance their ability and performance related with their field of work. This program aims to suit working adults (plant operators, technicians, industrial supervisor, etc.) in the related industry. The Part-time Diploma of Chemical Engineering (Process Plant) is designed to meet the needs of candidates who already have certificates and SPM qualification with not less than 2 years working experiences in related industry and wish to obtain a recognized qualification to enhance their career pathway. This program offered a lot of opportunities to the local community who has years of working experiences but, unfortunately lack in academic qualification to further their studies. This program is also an initiative to expand the life-long learning program in UMP. The curriculum for the The Part-time Diploma of Chemical Engineering (Process Plant) is designed to include studies related to the basic chemical engineering principles and plant process. It also exposes students to the daily operation in chemical process plant such as safety, installation and utility. Soft skills are also included in an effort to produce graduates adaptable to the changing needs of the local and global industries. This program is expected to be completed in 48 months or up to 72 months. Classes are planned to be conducted during the weekends using the same format as the mainstream program, such as lectures session and labs. The evaluation process is also similar with the mainstream program, with the final examination will be carried out at the same time with the full time students.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Passed SPM and obtained a certificate from a Polytechnic / equivalent in Malaysia in a field relevant to the course applied and approved by UMP, and had at least two years working experience in a related field.
